IKP2 - Isokinetic Probe

Description

The Isokinetic probe (IKP2) is a total water evaporator with humidity and pressure measuring devices. The IKP2 was developed to measure high ice water concentrations at high altitude and high airspeeds while staying below a maximum power, weight, & size requirement. The probe is often used as a benchmark to wind tunnel applications given its ability to accurately measure total water content. The data collected from the probe on aircraft campaigns will be used by regulatory bodies to set guidelines of regulations on engines that endure ice crystal ingestion. These collections will benefit flight safety and add to the understanding of ice crystal formations in-cloud.
